- Serves as a member of hazardous material emergency response team and structural or crash firefighting crew.
- As a member of an emergency response team uses detection, identification, and monitoring equipment to identify hazardous products.
- Uses available resources material to determine life, health, and environmental hazards.
- Uses dikes, dams, booms and other means to confine hazardous releases.
- Uses patch, seal, and leak kits or other specialized equipment to contain hazardous substance releases, protect lives and conserve property.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: drives and operates firefighter vehicles; controls and extinguishes fires; assists controlling hazardous materials incidents and operates fire communications equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
