- As an Operations Research Analyst, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
- Participates in the development of resource models using statistical techniques (e.g., regression analysis and forecasting techniques).
- Conducts economic cost analyses associated with various operational aspects ongoing within the command and new programs/project proposals.
- Applies statistical and operations research techniques plus judicious usage and evaluation of available systems and data in the development of all studies.

For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree in operations research or successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 hours must be in calculus. NOTE: Transcripts are required at the time of application. In addition to meeting the basic education requirement above, you must also meet the specialized experience requirements below: GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing analytical methods to execute complex studies, compile data and prepare technical reports and briefs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying operations research, mathematical, statistical, and/or other scientific methods and techniques to forecast statistical projections and evaluate probabilities of success and margins of benefit. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Data Analysis Data and Content Management Modeling and Simulation Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Requirement at the GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
