Major Duties (Job Description)

  • Serve as an instructor developing, preparing, and presenting formal instructional classes to world-wide locations relating to explosives safety, transportation of hazardous materials, packaging and ammunition logistics, and chemical surety.
  • Conduct lectures, conferences, case studies, demonstrations, practical exercises, examinations, and critiques for assigned courses.
  • Provide advice on explosives safety, material readiness, logistics, stockpile reliability, and chemical surety.
  • Provide academic counseling to students.
  • Conduct research, identifies and develops new concepts, principles, and techniques for advancing ammunition and hazardous materials technology and integration of new ammunition items.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience which includes experience interpreting and applying explosives safety and physical security regarding Class V material; experience applying instructional methodologies and instructional techniques; experience with the technical aspects of munitions in order to understand the specialized terms and requirements associated with the specialized fields of logistics operations; and experience developing instructional materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
